It’s been a week since I updated!
Thinking about changing my updates to once a month so I can have more data to share.
Also it’s kind of discouraging seeing the data not improve much week after week, but if I look at where I started four months ago compared to where I am now, I feel pretty darn good.
I’m still spending a lot of time rearranging older articles. Pictures, layout, proofreading, re-writing, etc…
My goal at the beginning was 1,000 words+ and sometimes I didn’t hit that. I had trouble getting to 800. Now, somehow I can continue to write and get to 1,500 without an issue.
Besides editing older articles, I’ve been spending time learning the tricks to Pinterest.
I still have life/business coaching in my brain but it has taken a back seat for now.
Next up is writing an ebook. I think I can take some articles I’ve already written and mesh them together to create something. I’ve spent only a little bit of time thinking on this.
Now that school is back in and sports are full swing for my girls, my time is limited.
Also who knew a puppy would take up so much time?? Most nights around 10pm, I can be found on the couch with my feet up. I’m trying to think and get in the zone while making sure he doesn’t have an accident anywhere or fight with my other dog.
Oh, the things we unintentionally do to ourselves…
I am on a big minimalistic kick right now at home and may find a way to incorporate this into my writing or give the subject it’s own article. Why do we have so many things that aren’t a necessity? How do you get your family to adjust their thinking and get on board with your “let’s get rid of more things than we purchase” mentality.
On to how it’s been going over the past week… I’ve been running a Pinterest ad for $5 per day for a while now. It’s bringing traffic to the website, or rather, bringing traffic to one particular article. The article has Amazon affiliate links, so this is how I’m gaining (very little) in affiliate money.
However, obviously by the numbers, this does not nearly offset the cost. Not even one day.
I think I’m waiting for something magical to happen and perhaps I’m looking at it the wrong way. I do consider the money I’m spending to be minimal. I also consider it an investment – I’ll keep waiting to see a return.
I’m going to keep this $5 a day going at least until the end of the year. I may switch up the article that’s promoted. If something comes out of this, I’ll let you guys know. It’s more like my own experiment to see if I can rush visitors to the site instead of waiting.
Let’s get to the goals and where we are at!
The last week I’ve had 82 impressions on Google searches. I’ve only had one click (and that one click was me…). This is down from the previous seven days. However, look at the last four months:

Looking at it from a step back, I’m pretty happy with the results so far. It’s a long game, right?
Earned from Affiliate Marketing was $2.92 and is now $3.97. So about a dollar after one week, which is better than I had been doing.
Earned from ads: $0. Still haven’t placed ads, I’ll consider this again soon.
Goal by end of September 2023:
- All articles revamped to adhere to “my new style” of writing – Still working on this. About 5% done.
- All articles obtain a SEO score of at least 90 – I’m about 10% done with this.
Goals by end of December 2023:
- Earn $50 from Affiliate marketing. – Not much increase here, but didn’t expect there to be with little improvement in visits.
- If not Google Adsense, find another ad placement company to use. – Again, I’ll work on this later – I’ve got a while.
- Create an eBook that I sell on the website. – I hear you, weekly reminder. Pushing it off until I update all the articles. So most likely not starting this until end of August.
- 1,000 search engine impressions per day. – Going the wrong direction here, but staying positive! Hopefully updating articles and improving SEO will help this.
I’m going to plan to not update again until September 1 unless something magical happens. 🦄
Here’s to hoping for everyone the best!!
Thank you to all the bloggers out there that not only write articles throughout the week, but find time to comment, like, follow, and encourage others.
So thankful it’s not all silence.
