A little bit happier since update #13!
I had my most impressions on Google search so far with 23 in one day. I actually hit 23 three times in the past week, which is pretty awesome since my trend line was way down.
I feel like I need to change my menu. I like how other websites have multiple options inside of one menu with drop downs (does that make sense?). For example, under “money” menu, I need sub-menus. I’ve posted a ton of articles in money and career and I feel like some of them are getting lost.
Plus some stuff I write, like the Halloween dog costumes on a budget post I just did, don’t exactly fall well into a “money” category in my mind.
So, this week I’m going to start writing down some different submenu options and come up with a few that I’d like to try out.
Quite often, I’ve done things that have caused the website damage in the past and now that I’m getting a little bit of traffic, I don’t want anyone to come to the website for the first time and see a hot mess. So I’m a bit hesitant to change things.
I did not reach my goal of having all my old articles revamped by the end of September. That was pretty ambitious of me. I’ve slowed this down and I’m updating 2-3 a week right now and that feels like a better solution to upping my past game. So let’s say I’ll have this finished by the end of the year. Now all we have are end of the year goals. Let’s go through them!
Goals by end of December 2023:
- Earn $100 from Affiliate marketing. – This has slowed down since I’m only paying a couple of dollars a day for ads. Right now I have $51.01 earned in affiliate marketing. Goal stands at $100, which I believe I’ll still achieve even though I’m turning all ads off by the end of October.
- If not Google Adsense, find another ad placement company to use. – I’m planning to try Adsense again at the six month mark. If that fails, try something else.
- Create an eBook that I sell on the website. – One done! Taking a break from this for a bit. A lot went into that one eBook and I’ve sold 0. 😊
- 100 Google Search Impressions per day – 23 a few days this week so I’m heading in the right direction!
- All articles obtain a SEO score of at least 95 – 32 left to do.
I will say that Bing is starting to show some impressions. I hear there’s a Bing WordPress plugin that will allow your new articles to show up right away. I’m planning to research that a bit this week as well.
We’re so close to the six month mark. 🙂 That seemed impossible a few months ago. Looking back at the older posts, I was so lost in the beginning. I knew I wanted to write, research, and share information. I knew I wanted to start some sort of side gig. I don’t know that this will ever take off. I would hate for it all to be a waste.
I’m actually super proud of myself for almost hitting this six month mark. I think it’ll be super easy now to get to that point. Next up is one year! I think I’ll enjoy having a website during the holiday season as so many new ideas are already coming into my mind. Especially articles centered around New Years’ goals.
It’s my kids’ fall break week so I’m spending some time with them and taking off work. I’m so enjoying this fall weather.
Thank you to everyone who visits and reads my random articles. Some of you only visit to check up on me and that’s so nice to know. I wish I had started this blog section on day 1 so that I could look back that far and see how lost I was. I started it at the end of month one, so I was really still lost at that point.
In a lot of aspects, I am still a bit lost now. But every day it gets a little better and I learn something new.
