A while back, I wrote a Halloween decor/party idea article where I mentioned this 5ft Halloween Spider on Amazon.
I’ve purchased this guy twice and I haven’t regretted it for a moment.
He’s crazy cheap and I wanted to share my thoughts with you guys.
I absolutely love Halloween. I’ve purchased my fair share of expensive Halloween decorations in the past. This one was so cheap and pleased me so much, I decided to review him.
So please allow me to give my honest review on this Halloween Spider and some ideas for how you can utilize him.
The Price
This spider being insanely cheap is the reason I purchased it in the first place.
I’m obsessed with Halloween decorations. I’m also obsessed with staying within my monthly budget.
I have never seen this 5ft Halloween spider go over $20 at the time of writing this article. Often, it’s at least 20% lower than that. The first time I purchased it, I paid $15 and the second time I got it for $10.
If you’re able to get it for less than $10, way to go!
I’m usually last minute on my purchases but I’m curious how low he could go if you stalk the price for a bit. Let us know in the comments below if you’re able to snag him for cheaper!
Unboxing
This guy is tightly folded into his shipping package.
Please don’t think you can quickly take it out of the box and place this guy wherever you want. You need to spend some time detangling his legs and making them look more “lifelike”.
He is definitely not plug and play. The good news is – You absolutely do not have to be a craft queen to get his legs in the shape that you want. I most definitely have 0 crafty bones in my body.
If you scroll down on Amazon and take a peek at some of the reviews, I don’t think some people realize you have to actually position the legs where you want them.
This doesn’t take too much time – I spent less than five minutes with some help.
To show you what I mean, here’s the spider taken straight out of the package. I placed him next to a 16.9 oz water bottle so you could see how tiny it is.
The Size
This is not a five foot tall spider.
The spider is five feet long from one end of a leg to the end of the opposite leg as long as you’re stretching it as far as you can.
Don’t get overhyped on the 5ft description thinking that you’re getting a spider that is going to be almost as tall as you are.
Once you position the legs where you want them, it will absolutely not be 5ft tall.
If you can get past the “five foot” description, this spider is still super cool.
Where To Put The Spider
I like wrapping the spider around a tree. I think that’s the easiest thing for me.
We also have a fence that I love sticking him on when we’ve thrown Halloween parties in the past.
You could also use some rope and hang him from your front door if space allows.
For inside, I take the end of his legs and mold them so they will fold behind a picture. The legs are easily maneuvered to your heart’s desire.
What I love about this Halloween decoration is the fact that it takes boring, flat objects like a wall or picture and creates dimension.
I have amazing candles, lights, webs, globes, bloody hands, and a slew of other decorations in my home and this is the first thing people comment on when they enter.
The Good Vs The Bad
The Bad – Not a whole lot. I mentioned earlier than this spider is not 5ft tall standing. His legs are also very thin, but isn’t a spiders legs normally thin? I’ve molded him a million different ways and he hasn’t broken on me, regardless of how thin the legs are.
There are a few rough reviews on Amazon. Mostly about size and the fact he looks fake. The spider 100% looks fake up close.
The Good – I am not crafty. I wish I were. The struggle is real for me when I have to come up with brilliant ideas when it comes to decorating. I have trouble taking an empty room and making it something magical from scratch. With that being said, this spider was made for me and all my flaws.
If you are crafty, I’m sure you’ll come up with a million ways to integrate this spider into your spectacular Halloween home decor!
