Sometimes I need to read or hear self-confidence affirmations to keep myself from dwelling on negativity at work.
I will only admit it to a very select group of people in the office, but sometimes I get down on myself.
I wonder “Am I good enough for the position I’m in?” or I doubt my abilities when working on a large project.
Sometimes it’s hard being your own biggest cheerleader.
Occasionally, I need to close my eyes, say a self-confidence affirmation aloud, and take a moment to process.
This list contains some of my favorite self-confidence boosting affirmations. I’ve divided them into sections so that it’ll be easier to find for us during our brief weak moments.
Self-Confidence Affirmations When Doubting Myself
Yes, even after years and years in my leadership role, occasionally I still doubt myself.
I’m not perfect at everything and I do know my weaknesses.
Sometimes I need a pick-me-up and these self-confidence affirmations help me stay motivated to never give up. It’s all about taking small steps a positive direction.
- I belong here just as much as anyone else does.
- I will not think of fears, only the facts.
- My ideas are worth sharing.
- I am deserving – not lucky.
- I do not need to be perfect.
- Failures are not mistakes, they are lessons.
- I do not focus on perfection, I focus on progress with small steps in the right direction.
- I trust myself to get past anything.
- One rocky moment will not define my entire day.
- I am able to feel unsure, but still take action.
- I trust myself and the pace that I am working at.
- Confidence is not about knowing everything.
- I do my work with integrity. My work matters.
- I bring energy to every team I’m a part of.
- Setbacks to not define me. My work does.

Working on a Large Project
Sometimes I get down when working on a large project.
I’m impatient and like to see immediate results.
I know so many people will see the final presentation and not realize all of the time, energy, and brain power that went into every single detail.
Dividing the project into smaller pieces has helped me get through it without too much stress.
Often, I need to take a step back and say these positive self-confidence affirmations to keep me on track:
- I trust the process and focus on one step at a time.
- I am organized and in control of my time.
- My priorities are clear and I respect my boundaries.
- I am allowed to pause, take a break, and come back stronger.
- Even when it feels impossible, I am still making progress in the right direction.
- I am leading this project and I was chosen because I am capable.
- Pressure does not define me – how I handle it does.
- I give myself permission to take breaks and still get this project completed on time.
- I can do this without burning myself out.
- Every day I work on this project, I get one step closer to completing it.
- I don’t have to prove my worth – my work speaks for itself.
- I am taking action and moving forward. That is enough.
- This project is not a burden, it is an opportunity to shine.
- I have been trusted with this because I have shown I am the right person to get it done.
- I am a leader that I would want to work with on this project.
- Creativity comes naturally to me.
- I stay open-minded, flexible, and resourceful.
- I turn problems into possibilities.
Performing Poorly (to my high standards)
I am my biggest critic. Even when others believe I’ve done something perfectly, I believe that I could have done it better.
Somehow, I seem to find the one small moment that didn’t go as planned and focus all of my energy on that “failure”.
If there is an actual assignment that I’ve done poorly, my mind tends to stay focused on what went wrong for days.
Repeating some of these self-confidence affirmations helps me redirect in a more positive direction.
In addition to repeating these affirmations, I also have learned that writing down all the things I have done well will help me move past the negativity.
- I’m allowed to have an off day – even more than one off day if necessary.
- I will rise and overcome this as I have in the past.
- One mistake does not define me.
- I will give myself compassion as I work through this.
- I am not failing, I am learning to be even better.
- This is a temporary setback.
- I will take responsibility and do one thing to make it better right now.
- I am always capable of improving.
- My entire week is not defined by one tough moment.
- I am not behind on this – I am evolving to get in front of it.
- I believe in myself and will make this successful.
- My belief in my abilities will get me through this.
- I am an inspirational leader.
- I forgive myself for any and all mistakes and treat them as an opportunity to grow.

Self-Confidence Affirmations Before a Meeting I’m Presenting
I typically have nervous energy radiating through me before I give a big presentation.
Journaling my feelings tends to help me overcome this. I take a moment to write down what I’m feeling and then move on from the negative energy and write the reasons why this presentation will be successful for me.
Self-confidence affirmations that have boosted my mood and have helped sway me away from negative energy:
- I trust myself to speak with confidence.
- I know the information I am presenting and I will maintain calm.
- My ideas matter and every person in the room wants to hear what I have to say.
- I am confident in my words and my voice reflects that.
- I am continuously improving my abilities and this is merely one more step to take.
- This presentation will go smoothly because it is information I am confident in presenting.
- I am worthy of my role.
- I am confident in the presentation I am about to present.
- At the end of this presentation, I will leave knowing that I presented to the best of my abilities.
- I shine – I do not shrink.
- I am in control and my mind is clear of all anxiety.
- It is acceptable to have a moment of weakness, but I will recover with grace and professionalism.
- I own this presentation and am more than ready.
- Being nervous is a natural reaction. I will turn my nerves into positive energy.
- I will move forward with courage.
Self-Confidence Affirmations Before a Negotiation
I believe preparation is key before a negotiation. I like role playing both sides and coming back at myself with what the other party may say.
But no matter how much I prepare, I tend to doubt that I’ve prepared enough prior to negotiation day.
These self-confidence affirmations before I walk into the negotiation room help me go in with a clear head:
- I advocate for myself without apology.
- I am focused, calm, and in control of this situation.
- This is exactly what I’ve been preparing for.
- I speak with confidence and with purpose.
- I deserve to be paid for the value I’ve been bringing and will bring in the future.
- I’m not asking for a favor. I am asking for exactly what I’ve earned.
- I can state what I am after clearly and confidently.
- No matter the outcome, I am proud of myself for giving it everything.
- I am completely prepared and ready.
- Every single time I advocate for myself, it makes me stronger.
- I can handle this conversation with professionalism and a calm demeanor.
- I belong in this conversation.
- This conversation is one step towards my bigger goals.
- I am prepared for this, not intimidated by it.
- Every time I speak up, I am growing into a higher version of myself.
- Saying yes is not selfish.
- I am allowed to take up space – confidently and without apology.
- Negotiating is a collaboration, not a confrontation.
- I show up like the professional I am.
- I am not perfect, but I do make a difference.
When Someone Has Made Me Feel Small
I’m going to be honest here. I started writing this because someone made me feel small at work a week ago and I’m still reeling from it.
Writing all of these down and saying them to myself has helped me refocus and not concentrate on how one person made me feel.
There are people out there that, for whatever reason, want to bring us down. Let’s not let them.
- The words of others do not define me.
- I am confident in myself and will not allow someone else’s words to impact my self worth.
- I do not and will not take on another’s energy that is not my own.
- This feeling is a fleeting moment and I will come back stronger from it.
- I know who I am and one person’s negative opinion will not change that.
- I choose to release their energy and focus on positivity.
- Another person’s insecurity will not sway me.
- I know this moment will not define my day nor my career.
- I handle myself professionally, even when others do not.
- One ugly comment does not bring down the value that I provide.
- I have come too far to let one person alter my focus and steal my positive energy.
- I am deserving of respect from others.
- It is acceptable to take a moment to be upset – I will always rise above.
- I will see this as an opportunity for growth and embrace the challenge.
- I will protect my energy. My peace will remain protected.

Final Thoughts on Using Self-Confidence Affirmations
It does not mean I am weak, nor are you, because we use self-confidence affirmations.
It does mean that we are strong enough to refocus our thoughts and reclaim how we feel.
Saying some of these words to myself has a calming, meditative effect.
I hope they do the same for you. đź’•
