When I heard my daughter wanted a Taylor Swift themed birthday party, I decided to write about it.

This article was written from a mom who likes to set a budget and stick with it. I’m also a huge Taylor Swift fan so I knew this was going to be fun to organize, research, and execute.

Traveling to see Taylor Swift at the Eras Tour was a memory I’ll never forget.

Allow me to share with you some of my best Swiftie birthday party ideas!

Taylor Swift Themed Photo Booth

After experiencing multiple tween and teenage birthday girl parties, I know that a photo booth is a must have.

So find a wall, clear it off if needed, and set one up. The below 3x5ft Taylor Swift themed backdrop is the main piece.

Then I would suggest taking balloons, such as these with a Mirrorball feel, to fill up your white space.

For the photo booth, I would have a table or two nearby with props that match each Taylor Swift album.

Taylor Swift Playlist

Obviously, you need a playlist containing fun Taylor Swift songs that make the kids want to dance!

Have you considered turning your party into a sing-along event? You could easily hook up a karaoke machine and display the lyrics on a tv screen.

Here’s a list of my favorites that are perfect to set the mood at your celebration:

  • Shake It Off
  • Picture to Burn
  • Paper Rings
  • The Man
  • I Can Do It With A Broken Heart
  • Look What You Made Me Do
  • …Ready for It?
  • Getaway Car
  • New Romantics
  • Gorgeous
  • Death By a Thousand Cuts (played at the Eras tour I went to!)
  • Bejeweled
  • Bad Blood
  • Style
  • Cruel Summer
  • Love Story
  • We Are Never Getting Back Together
  • So High School
  • I Think He Knows
  • Stay Stay Stay
  • 22
  • Paris
  • ME!

Ask the birthday child to help make the Taylor Swift playlist. It’s important that they have buy-in to the songs that you’re playing.

My kids never hesitated to make a playlist anytime I’ve asked them to in the past.

I do suggest running through the list before the big day day to make sure you feel good about how it flows.

Photo Booth Specifics

Here’s a list of her albums and examples of what you could use as a prop for that particular album. If your prop selection is rather large, I would have smaller marked bins so you can keep the props sorted. Label the bins with the era.

For example: a bin marked “Red Era” would have all of the items that match up with the Red album. “Lover Era” “Reputation Era” and so on…

Note that there are quite the number of Eras so perhaps you only want to choose the birthday girl’s favorites…or perhaps her sole favorite Taylor era.

Examples of props:

If you want to spend your time and effort on other aspects of the Taylor Swift party, you could take the easy way out and purchase this Taylor Swift prop kit on Amazon.

Taylor Swift Themed Games

I always like to have a “prize” for winning a game at a birthday party. The kids/teens usually take the games a little more seriously if there’s something to be won.

I decided to sit down with my kids and make a ton of Taylor Swift friendship bracelets to give out at the party. If you want an easier way out, these bracelets can be purchased on Amazon.

Taylor Swift Themed “Name That Song”

The first game is pretty self explanatory. Basically you play a Taylor Swift song for a few seconds and pause to see if anyone knows the song.

Know your audience and make sure you’re making it fun for all. If you have some die hard Swifties in your crowd, consider breaking them into their own group. Play the more common hits to party guests that may have difficulty with the lesser known songs.

Whoever names the correct song first, earns a fabulous bracelet.

Taylor Swift Themed “Musical Chairs”

Fun for all! This game can get quite rowdy so you may want to consider playing it outside.

If you have no idea what musical chairs is – let me help you out.

You have 10 guests at the Taylor Swift party. You’ll start with 10 chairs. Turn on the Taylor Swift music and have the guests dance in a circle around the chairs. Stop the music randomly. When the music stops, the guests are to find a chair to sit in.

For the next round, remove a chair. There are now 10 guests dancing around 9 chairs. When the music stops, whoever is sitting moves on to the next round. Keep playing, removing one chair at a time until there is one winner.

The winner is thrown a Taylor Swift bracelet!

Taylor Swift Themed “Finish This Lyric”

Taylor Swift has lyrics that blow our minds away and stick with us.

I suggest getting some poster board and writing the beginning of the lyric on the front of the board. On the back, write your answer.

You’ll hold up the board and let the kids read it out loud. The first to know the lyric is awarded a point.

Here’s a list of a few of my favorites:

Start of LyricEnd of Lyric
I don’t know about you….But I’m feeling 22
The old Taylor can’t come to the phone right now, why?‘Cause she’s dead
Darling I’m a nightmare dressed like aDaydream
I could build a castle out ofAll the bricks they threw at me
So casually cruel inThe name of being honest
You held your pride likeYou should have held me
The road not taken looksReal good now
And you wanna screamDon’t call me kid
When the sun came upYou were looking at me
She’s cheer captain and I’mOn the bleachers
I swore I was gonna marry him someday but IRealized some bigger dreams of mine
Please don’t ever become a stranger whose laugh I couldRecognize anywhere
You kept me like a secret, but I Kept you like an oath
You play stupid games, you winStupid prizes
You know you’re good when you can even do itWith a broken heart
You hung me on your wall, stabbedMe with your push pins

Be “The Archer” At Your Taylor Swift Party

I would suggest taking this game outside unless you have a larger room that can handle shooting arrows.

Pick up some sort of archery set that will work for your age group.

Most likely, the set will come with targets. We don’t need those. We’re going to be using pictures of some of Taylor Swift’s exes as targets. Nothing personal, guys.

So print out full sheet images of Taylor’s ex-boyfriends.

  • Joe Jones
  • Taylor Lautner (eh, he’s a good one so I would debate this ex)
  • John Mayer
  • Jake Gyllenhaal
  • Harry Styles
  • Calvin Harris
  • Tom Hiddleston
  • Joe Alwyn

Using a red marker, create your own “X” on each image.

Place the pictures on a fence or tree and let each Swiftie party goer have a turn.

Again, the winner receives a Taylor Swift friendship bracelet as a prize!

Time To Eat

If you haven’t already, check out the cake in the “I Bet You Think About Me” music video. Although it’s unlikely you’ll create something as lavish as the cake in the video, a small red velvet cake would get the same message across.

There’s also a white heart shaped cake in “Blank Space” that would be much easier to recreate with a knife stabbing it in the middle.

Champaign glasses with lavender lemonade sound perfect.

To make lavender lemonade, mix lavender syrup with lemonade. Add water and sugar as needed.

Cut some lemons and add one or two small pieces on the top.

I’m not much of a cook myself, so here are some additional resources to get the best Taylor Swift Themed Food possible:

Party Decor Ideas

Finally, let’s not forget the Taylor Swift decor. Making your party area a truly magical experience does not have to break the bank.

An easy, DIY project would be to grab poster boards and write random Taylor Lyrics on each on of them and place around the room on walls.

Taylor’s album covers could also be printed and placed in random areas where you need to fill some void.

I love the idea of placing out “hidden meaning” items throughout the area. After all, Taylor is famous for her Easter eggs.

For example:

  • A red scarf
  • The 22 Hat
  • A picture of a Scooter with an “X” on it
  • A picture of Kanye West with an “X” on it
  • Cats (stuffed or pictures, of course)
  • The number “13”
  • Friendship pictures – Selena Gomez, Blake Lively, Ed Sheeran
  • Boyfriend Pic – Travis Kelce and/or the number “87”

The sparkly your area, the better. Make the whole place shimmer!

Taylor Swift Party – Additional Resources

There are some great inspirational articles that I wanted to include here to help you. Here are some of my personal picks for best Taylor Swift Birthday Party Ideas sites:

Final Thoughts

Have everyone dress up in their favorite era like they are attending an iconic Eras tour concert. This will set the vibe immediately as guests enter and they’ll be gushing over each other’s outfits. Your guests will be excited to see which fellow Swifties come dressed in the same era.

Place a Polaroid camera at the entrance so that your guests can take a quick picture upon entry before heading over to mingle and possibly visiting the photo booth area.

Consider having a craft area where your little Swifties can make their own Taylor Swift friendship bracelets. I like having some “busy work” for kids to do while guests are arriving so it isn’t awkward while we’re waiting on everyone. Sometimes guests show up early as well.

Plus, the friendship bracelets make great party favors that the kids can take home at the end of the night.

If you feel like you’re still missing something for the party, set up a karaoke machine with all the Taylor Swift songs imaginable! The kids can have a dance party while they take turns singing.

Have fun and have the best day! And for more birthday party ideas, check out this article on 10 Unique Party Ideas for Kids.
