Alright so I posted almost a week ago about how I was feeling a little down. It was like 11pm and I was feeling pretty bla over this thing I’ve created. I enjoy writing but the silence that comes from just starting out is unbearable. It makes you feel almost more alone than you did before you started blogging.

Update after a week:

THANK YOU SO MUCH for reaching out to me. You emailed and followed me on FB and now I can’t say that I have 0 FB followers anymore (WHATTTT). You liked my posts so many times. (Special thanks to Venessa – Check out Financial Planning with VZSolutions)

Some of you said a million words without saying anything at all with all of the likes.

I was talking to my kids and I was like “I just needed to be a person for a minute”. Not some robotic arm typing up random articles that the web already has a million of. I’m going against a huge amount of experienced writers – I’m well aware of the chances of success. I’m one person and I wasn’t relating to people or making it personal at all.

As soon as I dropped the wall a bit, you guys let me know that you were out there.

Side Note: I’m spending at least a portion of every day reading what you have written and sharing the same kindness that you have shown me.

On to how it’s going….

It’s going great! I’ve taken a whole week off of my 9-5(ish) job to focus on spending some time with my teenager girls and working on the blog. I signed up for Canva Pro to try it out. I created my first pin on Pinterest that wasn’t just a random picture. I actually used Canva’s Pinterest templates and created it from that, which wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be.

I spiffed up the header a bit.

I contacted the Word Press help desk because my logo hasn’t been showing up on mobile reader for at least a month. I deleted and reuploaded the image. They told me to wait a couple of days and contact them again, so I’m counting down until Sunday when I can reach back out. It’s annoying seeing all the other fancy looking logos and I have the gray and white world looking bubble.

Also, I actually ranked FORTIETH on some google searches from earlier this week. 70th to 40th is quite impressive. I will say I never scroll past five when I do my own Google searches so we’ve got quite a way to go… It’s odd how some of my articles are showing in multiple searches and others in none.

I did go to Google Search Console and made sure every single page was indexed. I’ve also started going straight to Google and asking for indexing as soon as my articles are published.

I didn’t mention this in my earlier blog, but I’m kind of frustrated that Google Adsense has rejected me twice. Yes, I realize only roughly 15 people visit my site each day. However, I want to be prepared and have the ads in place for when they do start visiting.
I have issues with letting things go. When I have a to do list, I need it to be completed as quickly as possible so there’s nothing left on the list.

So I’ll apply again in a few weeks and hopefully rejection is not in the cards. It’s impossible to say no forever…right?

Thank you so much for listening and supporting my writing. It’s nice knowing there are so on the same crazy ride. I’m feeling pretty upbeat and on task at the moment! Silence doesn’t feel so much like silence any longer. Thank you for that.
