Is it just me or was January the longest month ever?
Let me just say that I’m super glad it’s over and we’re in February.
I only posted five articles in February, but I did concentrate on some other website things just like I said I needed to.
Something magical happened THREE TIMES in January. First on January 12th, Google sent me an email congratulating me on 30 clicks from Google search in 28 days. YAY!💃
And then…BAM! On January 23rd I received an email from Google congratulating me on 60 clicks from Google search in 28 days! YAY! 💗
And then guess what happened?
BAM! On January 30th Google gave me a badge for getting 90 clicks in 28 days.
WHAT?!?!
I’m actually getting a little bit of Google traffic guys!
This has made me realize that I really need to focus on keywords on some of my pages. Even the ones that are doing well, I bet I could get a few spots higher on Google search if I spent more time on specific keywords.
Sometimes when I’m on Pinterest, I’m shown pins saying stuff like “How I made $3,000 off my blog in one month!”. Yeah – I’m no where close to that and it’s 9ish months in. I will say that this is not my full time job and perhaps the people who are able to make $3k in one month of blogging have a whole lot of free time.
Income in January 2024
No big moves in income this month. Still no ads so all my income is currently from affiliate links.
$9.81 total income for the month of January. 😅
But do I feel sad about that? Not at all! Scroll up if you forgot that I actually got 90 clicks in 28 days through Google! Woohoo!
Let’s Go Over Our Goals!
- Start pinning more on Pinterest. Create at least 7 new pins a week. I’ve been doing ok with this. I’m definitely getting better.
- Start a better email subscriber list utilizing a service that I need to research. DONE! I got one subscriber so far with the new email list. (That would would be me. ha….)
- 250 Google Impressions per day by the end of March. I reached 152 at the peak of January. I want to hit 250 in a single day by March and I feel that is achievable.
- Find a way to get my CLS within a better range so Google doesn’t get mad at me. Haven’t spent any time on this.
- Post six articles a month. Over the summer of 2023, I posted sometimes six articles a week. I’m lowering this because I really want to spend more time pinning, promoting, and working on what I have already done instead of just generating more content that I feel needs to be improved on later. Let’s do this for three months and see how I feel. Dang – I failed. I only posted 5. I’ll take care of 6 in February for sure!
- Create some budgeting sheets that can be downloaded from the website. Only start this after I get a new email subscription up and going. Haven’t started working on this yet, but I am proud of myself for figuring out the email subscriber list this past month!
Moving Forward
I feel pretty good about the website right now.
There are a few ideas floating in my head for February that I want to get started working on.
Pinterest has been good to me, but at some point I need to post more on Facebook as well.
Also, I’m annoyed all my posts show the date in the URL. I’m considering doing something about that, but fixing that will take a lot of time and outside help.
I was pretty sick the last week of January and I’m just now starting to get back to full speed. I’m probably at 80% right now.
You know what I’m most excited about? Seeing where I am when I hit the one year mark in late April. That’s a post I’m excited to make.
Bring on February!!
