Update #21 – February 2024 Income Report

Yay for making it through February strong!

I felt like I did some really great things for the site this month (outside of writing articles).

At one point, I thought maybe I was having a writer’s block.

The hardest part is finding out what I want to write about. Once I’m set, it’s easy to write. I used to have such a huge list on the notes section of my phone. Lately, that list has dwindled down and I realize I need to step up my game and spend a day or two just beefing up the list.

My email messages are starting to pick up. People are actually reaching out and wanting to ask me something or offer some sort of service to me. I had been getting a few spam emails since the launch of the website last year, but these are legit people typing and not some bot somewhere.

Social Media

I realize that I suck at social media promotion. I suck at social media in general.

Personally, I’ve never been one to broadcast anything that I’ve accomplished. I’m more likely to post something my kids did that was great.

I think this is hurting me. As my Google searches increase, my social media increases just aren’t moving up as fast. Are they growing? Yes. Is this something I’d like to see grow faster? Yes.

Am I going to do something about it? Eh….I’m probably not.

Besides adding new Pinterest pins and sharing the articles on FB as I write them, I’m just not interested in promoting myself. I hope this happens organically.

If it doesn’t, maybe I’ll change my mind down the road. Maybe I’ll hire someone to take care of social media for me. 🤷🏻‍♀️

On To More Exciting Topics

Google searches are exploding!!! Ok maybe not exploding, but definitely picking up.

On my last update, I shared that on January 30th, I received a notification from Google that I had 90 search clicks in 28 days.

Now, for my February update, I can proudly share that I’ve received a badge for 120 clicks in 28 days from Google. YAY!! 💃🏻

Income in February 2024

$10.68 total income for the month of February. 😅

Yeah, guys. Don’t feel pity for me. I’m good. I’m getting somewhere by people actually starting to visit – I don’t need the dollars to be there just yet.

Goals

• Start pinning more on Pinterest. Create at least 7 new pins a week.
  • I really said that?? That’s a lot. I’m doing more, but it’s not 7. I’m changing this to “Gain 5 Followers a month“. Let’s see if I can do that in March.
• 250 Google Impressions per day by the end of March. 
  • DONE!!! WOOHOO!!! I actually had 451 in one single day!! Far surpassed this goal! For next month, I’m changing the goal to a more general search engine goal, not only Google. I’m also going to be basing the goal off of actual clicks, instead of just impressions. So March Goal is 30 Google Clicks in a single day. In February, the most I had was 18 Clicks in a single day.
• Find a way to get my CLS within a better range so Google doesn’t get mad at me. 
  • I hired someone from Fiverr to help me with this. He has until March 10th so hoping for good results. Good luck, my Fiverr Friend! 😆
• Post six articles a month. Over the summer of 2023, I posted sometimes six articles a week. I’m lowering this because I really want to spend more time pinning, promoting, and working on what I have already done instead of just generating more content that I feel needs to be improved on later. Let’s do this for three months and see how I feel.  
  • Dang – I failed two months in a row. I only posted 4 times in February. Let’s change this to 5 for the month of March. I want to keep spending time growing other aspects and no so much time on writing for a bit.
• Create some budgeting sheets that can be downloaded from the website.  
  • Still haven’t started this. But having this reminder that I look at repeatedly at the end of every month is reminding me that I need to do this. Again, main focus right now is building an audience and not only writing for my own eyes.

I feel really good about where I’m at right now. The one year mark is nearing. I’m ranking high on Google search with at least two articles. I’m learning from my mistakes.

I’m definitely not earning a living doing this. I’m barely buying a Starbucks coffee… But I’m totally impressed that I’m getting clicks from Google. I honestly feel pumped – like I’m getting somewhere.

No following yet. Maybe I’ll never have a following because I’m not “out there” enough. I am ok with that. I don’t want to be famous…I want a side hustle that is fun. This is definitely a fun hobby…maybe soon I’ll see some type of side income from it.
