Hey everyone!!

I can’t believe it’s been over a year since I started the website journey. I’ve had so many ups and downs. No matter how rough it’s been, I’ve never considered shutting down the website.

I hear that most people stop around the six month mark. I want to keep getting better and giving up is not an option.

I spent most of June researching. I’ve read a ton of other blogs and there’s one thing I read often that I’m certainly not doing…and that’s being ahead.

I’ve always felt like I’m trying to catch up. It’s a feeling that I try to stay far away from in my personal and career life. I think I’ve been OK with feeling that way with the website because it’s a side hobby that takes a back seat to everything else.

So I’ve been in the process of changing that. I pride myself on my organizational and “go getter mentality”.

That being said, I’ve started making a to-do calendar for the website. I’ve been concentrating on getting ahead with writing.

I’ve constantly been writing and then immediately posting over the last year. When I had five articles written at one time, I slacked off writing for a few days and posted the five articles almost back to back. I seem to have an issue with just writing and timing the posting perfectly.

I’ve also had a serious issue with falling behind after I’ve posted a lot back-to-back.

So I’m building up articles. Everything I read says that consistency is the key to this. I can’t be really active and then appear to ghost everyone.

I’m planning to keep writing through the month of July and come back stronger when school starts back up the first of August.

Income In June 2024

$9.76 in the month of June. Yikes?

Well, it’s better than I was doing a year ago! 🙂

Page Views

About 1,200 in the month of June. This is lower than it was at my peak in February/March, but I know it’s because I’ve taken a huge hit in Google impressions.

Right now most of my traffic comes organically from Pinterest. I’m super proud of the number of pin saves I’ve had lately!

I’m sad to report that I went from 55 followers last month on Pinterest to 54. 😟 Probably due to pinning less. I need to rewire my mind and not feel like it’s wrong to create new pins for the same article multiple times.

When I visit other websites’ profiles, I see a TON of pins for the same article. I feel weird doing that and I need to get out of that mindset.

Career & Life

My full time job is quite demanding right now.

My personal life is a little sad as my first born is getting ready to start college. I’m trying to focus on being excited for her.

This day came so fast… I know everyone writes about how short these eighteen years are and I’ve really been feeling it.

Thoughts on New Pages

I want to keep writing about things I want to write about. I’ve been thinking about expanding some into other areas. For example, what if I made a page dedicated to a meal I made for the week, the cost I spent on the meal, and the ingredients?

I could let my daughter rate the meal from 1-10, a practice that my kids have done since they were little. They have occasionally given me a “1” on meals while grinning, not realizing that I literally spent an hour working for a “10”.

That may be fun for me to share while still sticking to the website theme.

Moving Forward

I remember being so insanely proud of myself for multiple website accomplishments over the last year. I also clearly remember the stress I had when I couldn’t find out how to do something creative with the website.

I want to just concentrate on me and what I love to do. So that’s why I’m focused on writing.

In a few weeks, I’ll take all the articles I’ve written and add links, pics, and complete the editing process. At that point, I think I’ll be ready to start regularly posting again.

So here’s to getting more organized with the website. 🍾

I’m pretty much my only and biggest fan. I got this! Keep learning, pushing, and moving forward… it’s all about writing and having a fun side hobby.

I truly believe that if I keep at this, I will find my way.

Maybe one day the clicks will follow. 😉
