Yay for another month of owning a website!
This is getting way more fun than it used to be.
May was my first full month of having Journey as my ad provider.
I’m excited to show you what Journey looks like vs. AdSense.
I’m also excited to share with you some Pinterest successes I’ve been having.
It’s such a mental release to write this website update every month. Chatting about the website is actually one of my most favorite things to chat with readers about.
I feel like the community of website builders is a safe place.
For the first six months or so, I felt like I needed to live in a bubble. Reading other income/traffic monthly reports from smaller websites helped me so much – I hope I am able to do the same for others.
If you’re new, here’s a list of things I’ll be sharing:
- May 2025 Traffic
- Social Media Updates
- Challenges
- Successes
- Income for May 2025
- Any future website goals
Let’s go!
May 2025 Traffic
Google impressions are steadily increasing.
Clicks from Google, not so much. But I know why.
My most popular article (or really my only popular article) from the first of the year is geared towards the Christmas crowd. It trickled a bit into March but that one page has slowly been losing steam because it’s seasonal.
I fully expect it to come back in full force around November.
So even though clicks are losing a little steam, I’m super proud impressions are picking up from articles that weren’t doing that well previously.
Plus, any newer articles I write seem to rank pretty well within a few days! Except these website update articles, of course.
Let’s look at a snippet of the last five months.

My best Google impression day in May had 5,642 impressions! This is crazy high for me. 3,862 was my highest day in April. This is by far the best month of impressions I’ve had.
April Impressions – 89.4K and April Clicks – 2.17K
May Impressions – 133K and May Clicks – 2.33K
Click through rate is down because of that one article that is down in impressions. However, I’m glad I’m picking up the speed on other articles to compensate!
Now let’s look at total visits from all sources, not just Google:
Total visits by month last five months:
- January 2025 – 3,660
- February 2025 – 2,742
- March 2025 – 3,583
- April 2025 – 3,333
- May 2025 – 4,210
Yassss!!
My goal was to break 4,000 in April and I didn’t do that but that’s ok because I did it in May!!
Can I break 5,000 in June!?
Search engines account for way more than half of my volume. I’m going to see if I can get Pinterest to help boost this to 5,000…
Social Media Updates
I posted four times on Facebook. Be easy on me.
I thought I had given it up and began searching for another social media to join besides Pinterest but I don’t like any of them. 😅
So yay for posting four times on Facebook even though I don’t really want to!!
Let’s talk Pinterest.
I’ve had 82 followers on Pinterest for quite some time. I’m up to 86! YAY!!
Thank you, lovely Pinterst people for being some of the most brilliant people in the world.
It’s such a fun, happy community that I’m proud to be a part of.
I had a goal to be up to 50,000 impressions in April and I didn’t meet that. I left the month at 45,000.
I’m happy to report that I’ve been pinning around 2-3 times a week and I am ending the month at 68,000 impressions!!
What the heck, guys?!
I’m freaking killin’ it.
Challenges
Um. Zero.
Shocker.
Zero challenges this month. I didn’t struggle with writing.
Eh, I take that back. I did write an entire 2,000 word article that I have in my draft folder because it doesn’t feel right for some reason.
I may come back to it later in the year.
Even though I gave up on that article when I planned on posting it the next day, I easily wrote another one on a separate topic and published one article a week all month without hesitation.
Is one article a week enough?
Probably not. I think I would progress this website so much more if I could devote more time to it.
Here’s the thing… I have a full time job. I have two kids that are home for the summer. I don’t have the time and I’m not going to stress about it.
One day…when my youngest one gets a job, maybe I’ll have more time to write.
For now, I am completely content with posting one article a week and that will continue to be my goal.
If I push myself for more than that, I get stressed out and begin to shut down and not accomplish anything. So let’s not go there.
No real challenges this month!
Successes
Haven’t there been enough successes already?
I guess I usually keep this section of my monthly update because I sometimes have a lot of challenges and this keeps my spirit up.
I feel like I’ve been (for once) giving myself a ton of kudos in this article.
So let’s recap successes:
- Google Traffic up
- Google Impressions up
- Overall Traffic up
- More followers on Pinterest
- I actually posted something and stopped being a ghost on Facebook
- I started creating way more Pinterest pins
- I had a full month of Journey and this paid way more than I was making on AdSense!
I’m a freakin’ Website Ninja.
May 2025 Income
On to the money part…
Income Breakdown by Month for 2025:
- January – $29.79
- February – $30.63
- March – $30.52
- April – $41.54
- May – $71.80
YAY!!!!
May Breakdown:
Journey profit: $46.48 (way more in ad profits!!!)
Amazon Affiliate Links: $18.07 (more than the $15 I made last month – Yay!)
Sellfy: $7.25
Total in May: $71.80
This was by far the best month of the year!!
Let’s move on and talk about expenses.
I don’t have many monthly expenses. I purchased Divi Lifetime Membership as my theme in 2023 and I’m so thankful I did.
Currently, I spend $29 on Sellfy to sell digital products. Yes, I’ve talked about suspending this for a few months while I come up with some digital items to sell…but I haven’t done it yet.
$29.50 for WordPress.
For subscriber/email list, I use Kit, which is free!
RankIQ I said I was going to get rid of for a few months but it’s still really helping me.
I like RankIQ so much, I wrote an entire review on it here.
Total expenses = $107.50
I’m inching closer to breaking even!
If I could part with RankIQ, I’d be more than even. Let’s make this promise to myself…
If I don’t start showing a profit of greater than $100 next month, I’ll cancel RankIQ until I start earning enough to cover it and turn a profit.
June Goals
Break 5,000 Visits to the site. We did over 4,000 last month. It’s going to be a little challenge, but I feel like if I keep pinning as much as I am on Pinterest, I may be able to get this done.
The jump from April to May was almost 1,000 in visits. So not unachievable.
Write! – Keep on churning one per week. This one doesn’t count so that’s five total articles needed for the month of June.
The plan is to post one article every Saturday.
Pin – Let’s see if I can get to 3 pins per week. That’ll be 12 total pins for the month.
RankIQ – Keep utilizing it to spiff up older articles.
Social Media – As much as I hate it, post at least four articles on Facebook. I’ve got to show I’m active.
Final Thoughts
This is one of the happiest website update articles I’ve written.
Honestly, 2025 feels like it’s my year to speed things up.
I’m hesitantly optimistic.
I’m trying not to get too caught up on checking how earnings are doing, how many visitors are coming, affiliate links, etc…. I need to stay focused on writing.
Owning a website is so fun. 🙂
Happy summer, ya’ll!
