Update On Me #5

Hey!!

So I went on vacation. I had more time to work on the website than I thought I would. I was actually able to post and stay up to date on almost everything.
I’ve been back for 5 days and I feel like I’m further behind now than I was when I was on vacation.

I’m getting distracted by some things.

First, is anyone else having crazy weather? Here in Tennessee we’re having 80mph wind gusts out of nowhere, trees falling, and power outages. We’ve always had tornado warnings and such but this weather is really weird.

I go through cycles of being impatient. I get impatient with the site for a week or two and then I get back on track. During the current impatient cycle, I decided to pay to advertise one of my Pinterest Pins. It’s a pin that has some Amazon Affiliate links on it. I’ve spent around $30 and have had an addition 200ish people visit the website but no purchases yet through the Amazon link. I have had some clicks on it.

However, I wonder if this will help me get Google Adsense approved due to the increased traffic….

I think the best thing about Pinterest advertising is the fact that a lot of people will save your pin to their board and that may bring other people later. So I’m experimenting with it. My budget is $100.

I thought about advertising on Facebook as well, but I’m going to hold off.

I know there are a few things I need to do – Like apply for Adsense again and figure out how I am exactly going to earn from the work I’m putting in.

I will say that the one affiliate program I applied for that I really wanted, hasn’t gotten back to me yet. Which is sad… I need to refocus.

I fear that my website is too slow and that’s why Google isn’t ranking me higher. I have spent a little time researching but I haven’t made any significant changes. I hate that I’m not more of a savvy website developer.

Ugh…let’s change the mood here…

GOALS!

Maybe I need to set some goals instead of being all over the place. So let’s set some for the next week!

• Find out how to get my speed faster so I’m not in the “red” on at least one of the metrics
• Write one review article – slacking here because I’m trying to pick something I REALLY like instead of just diving into something
• Write my 3 normal posts in career or money, like I normally do
• Find someone to give me advice on the website. I need someone to tell me “this part sucks” and I think my friends are too nice to tell me. Thinking about paying someone on Fiverr to do an evaluation with recommendations to improve

I think that’s enough for one week.

At this point I’ve spent hundreds of dollars on getting the website up and going. I’ve made about $5.00. Cha-ching! We’re right at full 3 months of being operational. Google searches are staying around 13 per day, which is more than the 0 I had a month ago! Staying strong and pushing on. I’m glad I wrote the goal list down for the week on this blog so I can hold myself accountable.

Side Personal Notes

Saw Barbie with the kids yesterday and it was great!

I have a cat that is peeing outside of the litter box. At least it’s only in one spot outside of the litterbox. Silently going insane. 🙂
