Seven weeks since I’ve started updating on me and how the website is going. I’ve learned so much since the start of this.
This week has been busy and I haven’t spent much time on the website. The good news is – I wasn’t stressed about it. I think I’m starting to find some sort of peace with how things are going and less stress about writing so much.
School starts this coming week and I’ve been focused on orientations, supplies, and making sure the kids are ready. My 9-5ish job has been busy as well, so I haven’t been checking my phone every 30 minutes to make sure I’m keeping up with the website.
I really enjoy being an Amazon affiliate. It’s interesting seeing who clicks on which links and what works best. I’m at $1.72 in profit (yippee) so not much increase since last week, but that’s ok!
According to Google, the website has received 35 search engine results and only one click on the past 7 days. Average position is 48.7. Eh. It’s so odd how Google filters through which one of my articles it decides to show more than others.
We’re creeping up on 3 and a half months of being up and going. I’ve heard a lot of people say to just keep going – so that’s what I’m doing. I think if I get past one year and I am still seeing the same results, there’s an issue.
I’m trying a new groove – One update post on me on the weekends, one post about finances on Monday, one post on careers on Wednesday, and one review post on Friday.
My list of topics I want to write about has dwindled down – so I really need to sit down with pen and paper and come up with some new topics that I’d like to write about.
I did spend some time going back through old posts and improving on SEO. This is actually really time consuming and it’s going to take quite some time to go through each and every one of my past articles. I’ll plan to do 1-2 a week so I don’t get burnt out. It’s more fun writing new stuff.
I still haven’t heard back from Google Adsense. I think it’s odd that it’s taking so long. If I don’t get approved, I’m going to just wait another month and try again.
Thanks for checking in on me. 🙂 I’m hanging in there. I have my ups and downs and the busyness of my real life is causing the website to take a backseat right now. I believe this was a much needed break. Although it may not appear like it from far away, I’ve spent the last three months spending a ton of time on the website.
One more week and I should be back to feeling annoyed and bla about having little website traffic.
