Update On Me #8

REJECTED!

So yeah, Google AdSense rejected me. I’m beginning to take rejection quite well so it’s ok.

I did some searches and most say that the reasoning could be because my website isn’t 6 months old. Yes, some people are allowed to show ads after a month and some are rejected until the six month period. There doesn’t seem to be any reasoning behind this as long as I’m not breaking any rules, which I’ve checked a billion times and I’m not.

So life is going to go on without being able to show Google ads. I will apply again on the first of every month, hoping something will magically change and I’ll be accepted.

Right now, the volume of traffic I’m getting is so low, I’d barely be making anything anyway.

Speaking of traffic, organic search traffic is surely a reason why I’m being rejected. In the last week, I’ve had 37 impressions and 0 clicks. Pretty subpar.

I did spend a lot of time going back to older posts and updating. It’s quite time consuming.

As for FB, I have 6 followers (yay!). I have 2 on Pinterest (yay!). 0 on Tumblr but my post has at least been shared.

Slow and steady guys, slow and steady…

I did go into my WordPress theme and set up a template for all posts. That took a ton of time, but I really like the results! At some point, I’ll go in and change the template for each category, but let’s not go full speed just yet….I do have a 40+ hour a week job.

I’m going outside of my comfort zone a bit and feeling my way through owning a website. Right now I’m writing a post on Halloween party ideas and I’m really enjoying it!

Reflecting on why I originally wanted to do this website thing in the first place…. I’m a pretty private person and don’t even like it when people tag my personal account on FB. What I do enjoy is having one-on-one conversations and giving advice on something. It makes me feel amazing helping others with their struggles at the office.

So I started this because I wanted to share personal experiences. I did it to open some doors outside of my 9-5. I did it so maybe I can retire earlier than I have planned with some income on the side. I did it because I had a lot of free time. I did it because I learned from a lot of mistakes.

It’s evolving….my goals…my expectations from this. Right now I think the plan is simply to carry on writing 3+ articles a week, which is definitely taking up a lot of the free time I had before and I appreciate that. If my Update #52 still has me pulling in the same numbers, we’ve got issues…

The only one affiliate program I am earning from right now is from Amazon and I’m up to $2.00 earned from that.

We’ll see where this goes…for now, I’m staying focused on putting out content and learning more about affiliate programs and income streams from others, as I am completely new to this world.
