I randomly chose a new book off of Amazon. I narrowed it down by searching up “women and money” books in the last 90 days.

Came across a book with a cute cover, so I picked it up.

Name: How Every Woman Can Retire Without Worry: 10 Simple Steps to Secure Your Financial Future

Author: Patti Fagan

I was pretty shocked when I started reading. I was on page 20 of 120 and I think I was about 20 minutes in. It was probably the quickest book I’ve read in years.

The book stated towards the beginning that “This book is for women who suffer from stress, fear, and anxiety about money and those wondering if they’ll ever be able to retire”.

I don’t have stress, fear, or anxiety about money. I remember reading over that line a few times wondering how I felt about it. I rewound my brain back to my twenties and I remember having stress about money. Stress that I would hold within. I could classify my feelings as some sort of anxiety as well. I’m not sure that I ever had fear. I wasn’t thinking hard about retirement at all in my 20’s, although I was saving to my company sponsored 401(k).

I continued on and began to notice the enormous amount of times this book recommends other books. I began to shift my thinking some. The “stress, fear, anxiety” and the amount of name dropping for other books – I realized this book was very introductory.

The author mentioned a few times that women should not depend on men to handle money for us (which I agree with). I felt like the book was for someone who had just taken over the responsibilities for their income at a “later in life” age. The book did mention a few times that saving for retirement is much easier when you start young, but all is not lost regardless of when you begin.

The book felt like articles written on the internet that were compiled to make a book – which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

I’m obviously pro-finance books. I encourage everyone to read different opinions and find different ways of investing and handling your personal finances.

How Every Woman Can Retire Without Worry is a simple, very easy to read book. It would be super beneficial to young adults and those that are older, but only recently taking care of their finances after someone else has previously done so for them.

I like how the author explained retirement plans in detail and suggested a financial planner often.

Overall, I am not planning to save it to read again. However, there is a perfect audience out there for it – and it did give me a lot of other book suggestions that I took note of.

I’ll also note that book has the following additional text: (Women’s Wealth Series Book 1) so I’m assuming there are many more books planned. I would read the next one simply due to the fact that this was such an easy read.
