Due to my daughter beginning her freshman year of college this fall, I decided to purchase a Woozoo fan. More specifically, I purchased a Woozoo 5-Speed Globe fan.

There were quite a few steps that lead up to my decision to make this purchase (and to write about it).

First, I’m a member of a few Facebook groups relating to first-timer college preparation.  I’ve seen other moms post about this fan being in stock at local stores and “running out to get it” before they are gone.

I caved into the peer pressure months ago and knew I at least wanted to buy one of these fans to see what the hype was about.

Plus, I keep the house around 68 degrees at night and I doubt the dorm rooms will be that chilly in the fall.  I don’t want my kid to be uncomfortable if I can prevent it.  She’ll have enough to worry about I’m sure.

Full disclosure: I’m not a fan person.  I would replace all the ceiling fans in the house, but my husband is a fan person and turns them on quite regularly.

If you’re comparing popular home and dorm products before buying, I’ve also shared my experience after using Walmart+ for two years and whether it’s actually worth the cost.

The Models of The Woozoo Fan

I was (and still am) a bit overwhelmed by the number of models available for the Woozoo fan.

I ended up going with the 5-Speed Globe from Costco.  In my opinion, it is prettier than some of the other models and I like the way the buttons and remote look.  🤷🏻‍♀️

Plus, they have a white option and it matches with my daughter’s accessories.

There are some three speed options out there.  Since I’m not a fan user, if this had been a purchase I was making for myself, I most likely would have gone with an Amazon purchase and picked out the 3 speed.

For reference, here are some links to some of the models I was choosing from:

Woozoo 5C15T Remote Controlled Compact Globe Oscillating Circulating Fan (closest off of Amazon to the one I purchased)

Oscillating Woozoo Vortez Fan 7-in-1 (46ft Distance with 3 Speeds)

Woozoo Fan with Remote, 360degree Oscillating Fan – 2024 Model (52-74ft air flow with 3 speeds)

Woozoo Fan, Small Desk Fan (3 speeds, 32ft Max Air Distance)

The four above are all off of Amazon. I’m a huge Amazon fan and it’s typically where I make most of my purchases.

However, this time I chose this Costco version of the Woozoo: Woozoo 5-Speed Globe Fan

Features:

  • 353 Sq Ft Coverage
  • Multi-Oscillating
  • Remote
  • 5 Speeds

The Main Reason I picked Costco over Amazon: Costco was about $30 cheaper than a similar model on Amazon. I couldn’t find anything on the Amazon models that made them appear better.

A year after I purchased my Costco Woozoo, Amazon now offers this IRIS model with 3 Speeds and remote, which I think is beautiful.

  • OSCILLATION: Achieve full room air circulation like never before with WOOZOO oscillation. Set the fan to auto-oscillation to enjoy 65° of air circulation and ensure airflow that reaches every corner of the room. For maximum...
  • REMOTE: Change your settings without changing your seat. The included remote gives you full control over the settings on your fan; switching the power on and off, changing the mode, changing the speed, auto-oscillation, and...

What Do We Like About The Woozoo

I did see one review on Amazon where they noticed that the dome was cracked after they opened the package.

Our packaging was perfect and there were no damages to the item itself nor the outer packaging. I think that was some fluke that happened in shipping and not common at all.

So after I took it out of the box (super easy) and plugged it in, my instinct was immediately to start pushing buttons.

This thing is amazing for being so tiny! Maybe I’m a complete dork but I swear somehow it was blowing cold air at me. 😅

Note that I’m not a fan user but I was immediately impressed. I called the girls and my husband over.

Girls: Took out the remote. Found that they could turn off the indicator lights so there would be zero light emitting while they are sleeping. Impressive. They found you can also turn off the sounds so that it doesn’t annoy you with beeps (I think the beeps are cute btw).

Girls were fascinated and my youngest wanted to know if I’d get her one as well, as long as she could keep it plugged in all night.

Husband: “I’ve got fans twenty times bigger than this that don’t work as well.”

Overall verdict after we read through the manual and learned what the “breeze” symbol means:

FANTASTIC little fan!!!

I tend to approach product reviews the same way I do beauty and household purchases — focusing on real use, long-term value, and whether something actually lives up to the hype.

What Do We Not Like

Out of the three family members who witnessed my Woozoo fan, there was not a single thing they didn’t like about it.

My husband has had a ton of fans and couldn’t say one negative thing.

I don’t like cords on anything. However, the cord it came with is pretty long at over six feet. I had no trouble placing it on a random table and finding a nearby outlet it would reach.

I immediately decided that I didn’t like where the “remote holder” sits. Initially, I thought it was simply placed on the back part of the fan. However, it’s actually holding it there quite nicely. Even when I tip the fan over, the remote doesn’t fall.

Therefore, I really have nothing to complain about. I’m quite the “glass half full” kind of person when it comes to purchases, so this is really saying a lot.

I would have spent some time here commenting on how expensive it was if I hadn’t found it at Costco for less than $50. The prices on Amazon for comparable models are currently pretty steep.

Update From The College Kid

My daughter in college has now been using this fan for six months. It’s still working perfectly.

She absolutely loves her fan and keeps it on most days.

It sits very nicely on her desk and takes up little room. The compact size is a huge win as her dorm room desk is super tiny.

She can easily feel it blowing from sitting on her bed from the opposite side of her dorm.

The white color goes with everything else we’ve purchased as well. Definitely a stamp of approval from my kid. 😊

Side Note: If you are moving your kid away to college, these bags off of Amazon are a must-have. They made moving for us super easy and I recommend them to anyone I know that is moving from one place to another.

Final Thoughts on the Woozoo Fan

Rating:

Rating: 5 out of 5.

(This would have been 4 starts if I hadn’t been able to purchase for cheap from Costco)

The fan is really cute.

If I hadn’t been Facebook stalked or listened to all of the other college dorm moms, I don’t know if I would have found this fan.

Would I have settled on something cheaper? Perhaps. It could have gone either way. I could have looked into Dyson fans and spent a heck of a lot more.

I know that I was concerned about my daughter being away from home and too hot in her dorm room so I could have possibly spent more.

On the flip side, I could have spent about $20 less because my daughter sent me a link for a $25 generic fan off of Amazon before she knew I had purchased a Woozoo.

Scratching this item off of the college dorm list, knowing that I purchased something we all love, feels fantastic.

No regrets on this purchase for sure!

I’m also now a Woozoo “fan”. (pun intended)
